OBJETIVO

In terms of aesthetic language, the materials simplicity and the purity of the lines were fundamental elements for the architectural design. The modular house repetition seeks to give unity to the residential complex. The primary intention of the architects was to prioritized the simplicity of the materials and technical Solutions in order to have a clean and minimalista design.
The residential complex adopted a reinforced concrete structure, cumaru wood finishes and White panels.

The choice of colors and materials also contributes to the feeling of lightness: the use of matte white for the lower volume, in contrast to the wood panels applied on the upper floor. In addition, the large sliding slatted panels also contribute to the visual integration between internal and external
areas as well as give privacy to those within.

CONTEXTO

Architecture must always deal with the specifics of the place. In the case of UBÁ, It comprises a condominium of seven houses with an extensive program on a narrow plot situated in a major arterial street that connects a strictly residential area across the city.
The current legislation constraints do not permit to build up to a height limit. Although each house has four floors, the architects adopted a single volume for the seven units making it possible to maintain the horizontality of the project as viewed from the street and guaranteeing the local aesthetic identity. Few materials were used for the façade, bolstering the proposal of not visually impacting the neighborhood.
When Paulo and Bernardo Jacobsen first visited the plot the innumerable amount of existing trees leap to the eye and became the main premise of the architects: preserve as much as possible the native forest and create a microclimate atmosphere within the city. Together with the landscaper Rodrigo Oliveira they designed a pleasant walk through the trees, providing each house a unique experience.

ACTUACIÓN

The seven houses are divided in two sizes: five units with 343m² of building area and 200 m² of garden, and two units with 500m² building area and 300m² of garden.

Each house develops around a central garden, creating spatial dynamics between floors, as well as introducing natural light and ventilation into the ambiences.

The social areas are concentrated on the ground floor. The architects privileged the integration between the use environments: kitchen, dining room and living room. The continuity of the internal spaces extends towards the covered terrace linked to another garden in the back of the lot.

On the second floor: three to four bedrooms are arranged around the central void of the garden, while the roofs of the houses are designed as a gourmet terrace with solarium and pool bordered by shrubs and fruit trees.

The garage in the basement, provides each house an independent and exclusive access through this floor.
