OBJETIVO

The exterior nature of the park and the interior nature of the space -both equally artificial- are detached by different glass surfaces. An extra clear glass perimeter defines a square-shaped floor and at a level raised 50 centimeters above the park. These four transparent faces allow observing the glasshouse interior, turning it into a huge window display towards the park. The tropical plants level is 70 centimeters below the park, accentuating the difference between the external and the interior environments. An accessible perimeter mediates between these two situations and serves as an observation platform.

CONTEXTO

The project is located inside a private park south of Santiago, established in the late 80’s with mostly introduced species. Almost 30 years later, the park has large trees -among them American oaks, peppers, palms, ginkgos trees, linden trees- some over 20 meters high. Within this already consolidated landscape, a controlled environment of 120 square-meters is designed for tropical plants.
